The science behind the blend.

Rich conditioning meets a lighter finish. Calicaudo brings avocado, sweet almond, grapeseed, emu and black currant seed oils together for a hair and scalp ritual built around softness, slip and moisture retention.

Avocado oil · Rich conditioning

Rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, avocado oil brings a nourishing, emollient feel. Laboratory studies have investigated its penetration into hair fibers, with results that vary by hair type and damage. That makes it a thoughtful choice for a conditioning blend.

Sweet almond oil · Softness & slip

An emollient coats and lubricates surfaces. Sweet almond oil contributes slip along the hair shaft, helping rough-feeling lengths feel softer and making detangling gentler. The result is a supple, more manageable feel along the lengths.

Grapeseed oil · The finish

Grapeseed oil helps balance the richer oils with easy spread and a lighter feel. A thin oil film smooths the appearance of the hair surface and adds sheen. Start with a little; the right amount depends on your hair’s texture and density.

Emu oil · Conditioning richness

Emu oil contributes a rich, emollient feel to the blend. Small human skin studies have explored its moisturizing properties. It complements the plant oils with additional conditioning richness for dry-feeling skin and scalp.

Black currant seed oil · Fatty-acid care

Black currant seed oil naturally contains linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). These fatty acids contribute to its composition and conditioning character. It adds another layer of fatty-acid diversity to the blend’s hair and scalp care.

Also includes lemon essential oil for its aromatic finish. Contains sweet almond and animal-derived emu oil. For external use; patch test before use and discontinue if irritation occurs.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 2 teaspoons bentonite clay
  • 2 oz Calicaudo Hair & Skin Oil

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until completely smooth and creamy. Apply evenly to the hair and scalp. Cover with a shower cap and leave on for 15–20 minutes, or use with steam for enhanced conditioning. Rinse thoroughly with warm water until the water runs clear.

Recommended use

Ideal for use after removing protective styles, including sew-ins, braids, and extended wig wear.

Use as a deep-conditioning treatment every six months to refresh the scalp, replenish moisture, and support healthy hair maintenance.

Ritual 01

Dry Hair Maintenance & Detangling

This technique is designed for dry hair, whether you plan to shampoo afterward or simply refresh and style.

Directions

  1. Begin with dry hair and gently identify a natural part where the hair comfortably separates.
  2. Apply a small amount of CALICAUDO to your palms and rub your hands together to distribute the oil.
  3. Place a section of hair between your lightly coated palms, beginning as close to the roots as the hair’s density and tangles comfortably allow.
  4. Using gentle, controlled back-and-forth palm movements, work the oil through the section to help loosen tangles and improve manageability.
  5. Continue working toward the ends. Avoid forcing stubborn tangles; gently separate them with your fingers as needed.
  6. Repeat throughout the hair, applying additional product sparingly only when necessary.

The CALICAUDO TipA little goes a long way. Focus on even distribution rather than saturating the hair.

Hair may be styled as desired or shampooed and conditioned afterward.

  2. Apply approximately a quarter-sized amount of CALICAUDO near the roots, adjusting the amount according to hair length and density.
  3. Using a wig brush or detangling brush, gently distribute the oil throughout the hair from roots to ends.
  4. Divide the hair into manageable sections.
  5. Apply a dedicated heat protectant before thermal styling.
  6. Blow-dry each section using your preferred technique.
  7. Complete your silk press with a flat iron at an appropriate temperature for your hair type.

04 / Our beginnings

Faith. Family. Calicaudo.

I started Calicaudo in 2016 to help pay for an opportunity to study abroad. It began with a God-given vision—a handmade product, a meaningful goal, and the faith that something created with care could open a door.

In 2019, life changed when my mother suffered a stroke. I stepped away from the business because caring for family had to come first. Through the hardest season, God kept me, covered my family, and kept the dream alive.

Calicaudo was never abandoned. God was still writing the story.

Since 2021, prayer, patience and private refinement have shaped the formula. Ten years after its beginning, Calicaudo returns with the same purpose: care poured with love.
